First and foremost was the way we'd treat our suppliers, and customers- like crap. No seriously. Treat everyone with respect. That's how we do it around here. Second was that I wanted to run a tight ship, and plow the profits back into the inventory. By a tight ship, I mean to say that we really don't go for extravagant expenditures. For example, instead of Kleenex, we use the old parcel papers . Each diamond we sell comes from the cutter in one of these papers As you can see the inside ( below) is quite...tissue like. Granted, this did cause a huge stir in the men's room when a staple was left in......but that's another story, and our lawyers assure us that the stitches held, and we're fine. Seriously- we have never invested in a store, choosing instead to devoting the resources to developing our inventory. This accomplished a number of things. One of which is that a few of the world's best cutters cutters call is when they finish cutting stones they know we love. In some cases, the cutter's main business is stones averaging $250,000- and the diamonds we buy are the "tops" of the main diamonds they sell. Basically- to get a 15carat fancy intense you need to start with a 30 carat chunk'o'rough diamond. Before polishing ( cutting, or finishing) you need to saw it in two pieces, the larger is about 20 carats- that finishes to a deep colored 15 carat rock. The other 10 carat piece might finish out to a 7 carat W-X or something. Many of the light yellows we offer are just that. Of course, once a 4 carat diamond is finished, who cares what the "other half" was? Of course, from the cutter's standpoint, if he know we'll buy almost every well cut W-X he throws our way, he's much more amenable in terms of what we pay. Bottom line: You're buying about as directly as possible. Since more and more people are finding out about us daily, we continue to increase our inventory to show you more. Today we purchased one production of 29.01 carats of Natural Light Yellow diamonds- with an average size of 2.63 carats. Here's one of the largest stones- a wonderfully cut 4.18carat W-X color, Natural Light Yellow Square Radiant Diamond. W-X- is a color which is not well understood. One reason my buddy chooses GIA's "Color Origin" report.
